What to Actually Do When a Phone Goes Missing:
Ring, Lost Mode, and SOS Together
Most "missing" phones are somewhere in the house. This is the moment your Family Circle earns its keep — here's the calm, in-order way to use what Raksha gives you, starting with the simplest option first.

Lock, Ring, and Flash — right on the member card, no digging through menus.
First, Try Ring — It Works Even on Silent
Open Raksha, select the phone, and hit Ring. This is the first step for a reason: it overrides silent and Do Not Disturb, so it works exactly when a normal call to the phone wouldn't. Most missing phones turn out to be under a cushion, in a jacket from yesterday, or on a charger in another room — and a loud, unmissable ring finds them in under a minute more often than any other step on this list.
Still No Luck? Turn On Flashlight and Widen the Search
If Ring didn't turn it up — maybe it's a noisy house, or the phone is muffled somewhere — switch to Flashlight instead. A phone lighting up under a couch or behind curtains in a dim room is often easier to spot than to hear, especially at night. It's a small feature, but it covers the specific case Ring can miss.
If It's Genuinely Not in the House, Switch to Lost Mode
Once it's clear the phone isn't nearby, Lost Mode is the right next step. It remotely locks the device, displays a return message with a contact number on the screen so a stranger who finds it can reach you, and keeps broadcasting location in the background even while locked. This is the feature built for "it's genuinely out there somewhere," not just misplaced in the house.
If Something Feels Urgent, SOS Reaches Your Whole Circle at Once
SOS is separate from the phone-finding steps above — it's for when the missing phone is the least of the concern, and you need the whole Family Circle to know something's wrong right now. One tap shares live location with every member of the circle at once, instead of individually calling or messaging each person in turn. This is the Family Circle doing exactly what it's for: everyone who needs to know, knowing at the same time, without you having to hold it together alone.
When a Phone Is Truly Gone: CEIR Is the Last Step
If Ring, Flashlight, and Lost Mode all come up empty and the phone appears to be genuinely stolen rather than misplaced, the next move is outside Raksha: file a report and block the device's IMEI through India's CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register), which renders it unusable on any network nationwide. It's the right last resort, not the first thing to reach for — most stories on this list end well before it's ever needed.
The Goal Was Never Just Finding a Phone
Underneath all four steps is the same idea the rest of Raksha is built on: peace of mind for every phone in the family, and a Family Circle that has your back the moment something needs attention. A missing phone is stressful for exactly as long as it takes to try the first step — after that, you're not searching alone.
