Tapping SOS immediately sends an alert to every member of the family circle, along with the current location of the phone that triggered it. This happens over the same data connection the app already uses for location updates — no separate setup or configuration needed in the moment, since it's ready the instant the app is installed and the circle is set up.

SOS Doesn't Automatically Call the Police
This is worth understanding clearly: SOS notifies your family circle, it doesn't place a call to emergency services on its own. If the situation genuinely needs police, an ambulance, or fire response, that's still a separate call to 112 or the relevant helpline. SOS is designed to get your own people moving fast — the family is often better positioned to judge quickly whether official emergency services are also needed.
If It Goes Off by Accident
An accidental SOS — a pocket tap, a curious child pressing it — isn't something to be embarrassed about; it's exactly the kind of false positive any safety button will occasionally produce. The right response is simply to follow up immediately in the circle confirming everything is fine, so no one wastes time or worry chasing down a false alarm. It's a good habit to occasionally test SOS deliberately (with everyone informed beforehand) so accidental triggers are recognizable and don't cause panic either way.
