Moving to a New City in India
Between packing, paperwork, and admissions or transfers, safety setup is easy to push to "later." It takes twenty minutes and is worth doing before the boxes are even unpacked.

Update Your Digital Safety Net
Replace old safe zones with new ones
Delete or edit zones tied to your previous home, school, and office, and set up fresh ones for the new addresses — old zones left active can cause confusing or missing alerts.
Update your home address across the family circle
Make sure every family member's emergency info and lock-screen details reflect the new address, not the old one.
Note the new local emergency numbers
Nearest police station, hospital, and fire service for the new area — save these before you need them, not while you're looking them up in an emergency.
Re-confirm everyone's app is working correctly
A new city sometimes means a new network provider or SIM — do a quick check that location updates and notifications are still coming through for everyone.
The First Few Weeks Matter Most
A new city means new routes, new schools or offices, and everyone still learning the layout of the neighborhood. This is exactly the period when arrival alerts are most valuable — before a commute becomes familiar, knowing a family member reached school or work safely removes a genuine, reasonable source of worry that fades once everyone settles in.
Beyond the App: Settling In Safely
Meet a neighbor or two early — a familiar face nearby is one of the most useful safety resources in a new place
Learn which local landmarks and routes are well-lit and busy versus quiet, especially for anyone commuting at odd hours
Register with local authorities where required (some housing societies or areas request new-resident registration)
Keep moving-related documents (rental agreement, ID proof with new address) organized and accessible for the first few months
